Jamall Anthony (Born: Jamall Anthony Smith) is an American singer-songwriter, producer and actor. Prior to the release of his debut single “Summer 17”, he wrote a host of melodic songs for a variety of signed multi-generational artists from diverse genres, including Pop, Rock, Rap and R&B.
Early Life
Jamall Anthony was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He is one of five children of Inana Cotten-Smith, a homemaker and Tyrone Smith, his father, a general laborer in the Tri-state area. Jamall was first introduced to music through his father, who introduced him to some of the greatest oldies music created. Jamall was gifted with his first keyboard from his beloved grandfather, Harry Smith, who believed that his grandson was very special and talented. Jamall has remained encouraged and he has continued to develop his musical artistry with uncompromising focus and vision.
At the early age, Jamall became an integral part of the worship team at his church in Parkersburg, PA. There he would learn the fundamentals of music, where he sung, played the drums and the piano. He continued with professional vocal training to master his dynamic vocal range and musicality. As he continued to emerge with a voice of diverse range, depth and soulfulness, Jamall was invited to joined the Bel Canto music group. This opportunity gave him a greater appreciation for the unique gifts that each artist shares within a group and the power of developing long term collaborative friendships with his group members.
Career
Jamall met James Ulrich, a professional drummer from the band Runner Runner who encouraged him to follow his dream in music. Shortly after this, lead vocalists and guitarists, Ryan Ogren and Nick Bailey, would reach out to Jamall after he posted a YouTube cover of their hit song, “I Can’t Wait”. They applauded his vocals and musical range. After having much success in his home state of Pennsylvania, performing alongside artists Ky-Mani Marley, The Wailers, Teyanna Taylor, Gin Blossoms and many others, Jamall decided to make a major move which would impact the direction of his career.
Jamall subsequently made plans to come to Los Angeles to make it happen. He arrived in the City of Angeles with little money in his pocket but huge dreams in his heart. He has always been aware of the power of dreaming and the necessity of a diligent and focused work ethic. He is doing the work to share his dynamic and eclectic music styles globally. After arriving in LA, he co-wrote the single, “All Washed Out”, by the band Dreamers (Hollywood Records) which is featured on their EP, “FLY”. He has also co-wrote the single, “Yours” with Greyson Chance (Arista/Sony Music) featured on his album, “Portraits”. A Jamall continues to increase his song placements and is working with some of the best writers and producers in Hollywood.
Present
Jamall is currently completing his powerful debut EP, Sinful Monk, which is an awe-inspiring, well produced compilation of soulful ballads, heart-felt social commentary, and strong, beautiful vocals. The world is ready for this new generation artist whose voice has international appeal and the gift of music.
